Leslie and Emma are the most wonderful doulas. They really took the time to get to know us, checked in regularly and were a source of calm support, providing us with really helpful information throughout. We feel so grateful to have had them on our team welcoming our son into this world. We learned so much from them about what was attainable through their vast knowledge and experience. Opting for a home birth ‘out of guidelines’ is no easy feat here in Northern Ireland where our maternity services are a brutal mess. Having confident doulas by our side was crucial. During labour itself, Leslie was indispensable. From talking through options and advocating for me, to helping me through contractions, she was a rock for both myself and my husband the whole time. I can’t say enough about how vital they both were to our entire experience. I simply can’t imagine going through this process without them. After being made to feel disheartened and fearful at each and every hospital appointment, I was so glad to have access to a quick chat with Leslie and Emma who would immediately put us at ease — even kindly offering to attend hospital appointments with me if needed. This was so comforting during such a vulnerable and uncertain time. They listened to us with open hearts and minds. By the end of my pregnancy I felt empowered and most importantly supported going into the home birth of our son. We will be forever grateful to them.
