Postnatal doula support

Our postnatal doula support is designed around what you (and your new family) need.

Sessions of 3-4 hours work around you and can change from week to week. Our aim is to help you settle confidently into life with your new baby feeling rested and nurtured.

Postnatal doula support may include:

  • light housework
  • meal preparation or grocery shopping
  • practical support with baby – feeding, bathing, soothing
  • looking after older children or pets
  • holding baby while you sleep/rest, shower, spend time with older children
  • emotional support – being a listening ear, listening to your birth story
  • getting out for a walk or helping with appointments
  • support with babywearing

It’s flexible and really fits around what you need, when you need it.

We also offer a babywearing package which includes three sessions. The 1st is during pregnancy to chat about babywearing options, the 2nd within the first few days/weeks after birth to help you get started and comfortable babywearing and the 3rd around 4-6 months to support any changing needs or learning new skills in wearing your baby.

Discussing our birth preferences with Leslie helped us to decide what kind of birth experience we wanted, and gave us the confidence to discuss our wishes with medical staff.  We believe that her support and faith in us put us in a strong position to have the natural birth that we wanted.  On the day, we were lucky that things worked out as we had hoped, but having her beside us also made us feel better able to tackle the situation, however it unfolded. Leslie is a wonderful doula, and without doubt her working alongside us made a dramatic and positive difference to our experience of labour and birth.  Her priority was to understand what we were experiencing, what we hoped for, and how she could support us.  She was caring, knowledgeable, sensitive and a great listener.  She gave us valuable advice and emotional support both as we prepared, on the day, and even afterwards in her follow-up visit.
