Great support during pregnancy, informative and well prepared guides for birth, very helpful with birth options and quick to respond in person and via WhatsApp for any birth or other questions. Fantastic in person support during the birth, it was a long labour but that was no problem for them at all. Full support and a really great help navigating the options for birth and NHS system for our first birth so we didn’t know how it worked. Would absolutely recommend to anyone and use Belfast Baby Company again for a second birth.

Belfast Baby Company supported us during the birth of our second child was one of the best decisions we made. From the very beginning, Leslie was warm, approachable, and professional. During our initial phone call, she introduced herself and even mentioned her business partner, just in case she couldn’t attend the birth—a thoughtful gesture that gave us confidence right away. Throughout our journey, Leslie was always available to answer questions and ease our concerns. Her deep knowledge of both home and hospital births was evident, and she was well-connected with the local home birth team and hospitals in the area. This familiarity truly helped to calm both my wife and me, especially as we were planning a home water birth. During our home visits, Leslie walked us through everything we needed to know, from the birthing process to the equipment she would provide. She helped us set up for a water birth, supplying the birthing pool, TENS machine, and all necessary gear. The practice run she guided us through ensured we felt completely prepared for the big day.

When labor started, she arrived quickly and immediately created a calm and supportive atmosphere. Her presence during the birth was invaluable—she provided comfort, guidance, and reassurance, which allowed us to focus on welcoming our daughter into the world without worry. She was there every step of the way, and her support didn’t stop at the birth itself.

A week later, Belfast baby Company followed up to ensure we were settling in well and helped with any lingering questions. In short, Leslie was everything we could have asked for in a doula: knowledgeable, compassionate, and incredibly responsive. She provided not just physical support, but emotional strength during one of the most important moments of our lives. We wholeheartedly recommend her services and will absolutely be in touch again if we welcome another child in the future.

Leslie was a source of calm and reassurance throughout my labour and after the birth of my son. I had a very tricky first labour which was long, required an epidural and theatre with a ventouse delivery and a long and difficult recovery. My second labour was quick and I was able to have a water birth which I never expected I’d be able to have. I do believe your body adjusts to a certain extent and knows what to do in subsequent labours after your first but a part of me will always put it down to having complete and utter trust that Leslie was there to guide us through the process. She helped to keep my husband calm and reassured as well which is an important aspect of any labour which can often be forgotten about.

Leslie came to our house regularly throughout my pregnancy, she was so knowledgeable on every aspect of birth and hypnobirthing. She approaches every worry/concern you have with such attention to detail and explores every option thoroughly with you. I believe this really enables her to get to know you and what makes you tick, which is invaluable during labour and delivery.

Leslie supported me during my labour and the birth of our little girl for 24 hours straight. It did not go to plan at all (as these things often do) and she supported me to make decisions at each juncture, advocating to ensure I understood the information that was being given to me. I really did not get the birth I’d wanted but I still felt safe and supported throughout. She also came to see me in the hospital after to help debrief everything that happened which I really appreciated because the whole thing had been very chaotic. It was great having someone clear headed and knowledgeable with you through the process because it can be a lot to deal with alone.
I really enjoyed both Emma and Leslie’s company throughout my pregnancy, labour, birth and post partum. So often the needs, wishes and feelings of mothers are forgotten about during the process of carrying and birthing a child, especially with the struggling NHS services at present. I am so grateful I chose to give myself the gift of being heard and supported through this special time in my life and I feel it allowed me to begin my parenting journey feeling confident and empowered.

I was so nervous during my pregnancy about the labour and birth and Emma and Leslie really helped me by actually educating me about what happens to women during this process. They also supported me to design a birth plan and taught me how to baby wear and swaddle before baby came! It was really helpful and I felt so much more calm and supported going into my labour.

Our breastfeeding journey would not have lasted as long as it did if it wasn’t for that visit from Emma!

We are 7 months in now with our second child and my wife and I cannot compliment Belfast Baby Company enough and Leslie who was our doula. it was a bit last min through no fault of theirs but the time taken to listen to my wife and I, to go through the options available to us then the practicalities when it came to D day were exceptional. Leslie went above and beyond, made my wife feel comfortable and listened to – she spoke on her behalf (and mine I might add). The follow up visit too was really appreciated as it was at a time when we needed a bit of a ‘reset’ or ‘recharge’ to try to wrap our head around things. (The soup and biscuits helped too!) As a male, and now a father of two I would have no hesitation in recommending Belfast Baby Company to anyone looking to avail of their services.

Leslie from Belfast Baby Company was my doula and she was great all the way. I believe it’s important that there is a personal connection when you choose a doula and I really had it with Leslie. All the prep sessions with her were more for the sake of my husband, as it was my third pregnancy and 90 percent of what we went through I already knew one way or another. But I’m sure it will be very useful for first time parents.
As for the day, the events developed very quickly and there wasn’t much for Leslie to do, as first she wasn’t allowed to be with me in the assessment unit (where I was held prisoner with intense labour for 1,5 hour, just kneeling on the floor breathing through contractions) and than at 17.00 I finally was let into labour ward, 50 minutes later my baby boy was born.
Overall I felt much more confident knowing that Leslie will be with me and she always was in touch and very helpful with any questions, fears, doubts and i had a lot of them!
Thank you very much Leslie, the only thing I regret that I almost didn’t have a chance to feel your magic hands on my lower back when I needed them so much ❤️

Leslie and Emma made such a difference to our experience. Knowledgeable, extremely flexible and alert to our preferences and full of great advice and support. They went out of their way at every stage and the experience was so much better for having them be part of it.

We had such a positive experience with the Belfast Baby Company. Being pregnant for the first time I was nervous (even fearful) about all things surrounding birth. With the help of Leslie and Emma and their experience and knowledge they set my mind at ease, both my husband and I felt empowered with knowledge they gave us and that I would be receiving the support I needed for a home birth. The WhatsApp group before the birth was brilliant to be able to ask questions and keep in touch.

Come the day, Leslie was invaluable during the birth, she was calm throughout being so attentive to me and a comforting presence. It was a fast labour giving me little time to get in the groove but she had my back throughout and was able to share my wishes with the midwives without me having to worry or think too much!
Once baby arrived I had to head to hospital for some stitches and again Leslie was brilliant, it was here when suddenly faced with a medical environment, lots of questions and a rush of hormones I felt a little overwhelmed. Being able to ask Leslie for advice and her advocating for my best interests and wishes was amazing.

I can’t recommend my experience highly enough and we would definitely be using the Belfast Baby Company again if the occasion presented itself!

Hiring Leslie and Emma for my daughter birth in March’21 was the best decision I could have made. After 2 negative birth experiences it was very important to me to have the best support possible-which I got. I met both doulas a few weeks before the birth and felt comfortable with both of them, they talked me through my concerns, encouraged me and shared their incredible knowledge. Leslie helped me through my daughters birth and she was brilliant, as my only birth partner I felt she went above and beyond my expectations in regards to supporting me. I am so glad to have made the decision to book a doula for my second pregnancy. When things didn’t go quite to plan the first time round I knew that having someone who I could get to know in advance and who would be knowledgeable in all things pregnancy and birth in my corner would make a massive difference. From the first zoom meeting with Emma and Leslie I was totally at ease. They are so friendly, helpful and encouraging. They put doubts out of my mind and helped me to feel confident in my decision to have a home birth. No question was too small and knowing that I had their support made my pregnancy and labour much more relaxed. This is especially the case where you don’t know who you might see at various stages on the medical side of things where often different professionals will tell you different things. Emma and Leslie became a huge part of my pregnancy journey. My partner and I learned so much from them. They were so knowledgeable and generous with their time and there was never a question too silly.
I received so much support during my pregnancy that I was confident enough to choose the plan I wanted, even after a rather complicated pregnancy. Knowing that I would have someone else in the room with me that knew me as a person (not a “patient”) and that would advocate for what I wanted was such a relief. Having a knowledgeable voice in the room that would speak up for me helped me to relax and made me enjoy the process. I was absolutely elated when I was able to have the water birth I was hoping for.
Leslie ended up being present at my son’s birth at the Active Birth Centre in the Royal. Her calming presence made such a difference to the room’s atmosphere. She really held the space for me, which kept me focused. She encouraged me through and helped me to feel in control. Once my son had arrived I felt so empowered! It is one of the best experiences of my life.
I cannot recommend Belfast Baby Company highly enough. If you are pregnant and nervous, like I was, I would definitely point you in their direction. The support they provided was second to none and if and when I have a second child I’ll be approaching them again!

Having had a previous traumatic birth, I was feeling somewhat anxious and defensive about having another baby. I wanted to be more prepared this time so we strongly thought about hiring a doula and I am so happy that we did.

Emma and Leslie were a wonderful support during my pregnancy, labour and postnatal period. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble for them. They were particularly helpful in helping me choose what was the best path for me in terms of labour plan, reminding me about informed consent and making me feel so much more empowered and in control of what was happening. 1000% recommend!

I was so lucky to have both Emma and Leslie working with me for the birth of our second son. After the birth of our first, despite it being a positive experience, we vowed we’d hire a doula next time as we could see how useful an extra set of hands would be. My goodness both Emma and Leslie were so much more. They were always on hand on WhatsApp during pregnancy for guidance, advice, perspective and a very caring listening ear when I had a tough day.
COVID hit in my third trimester and Emma and Leslie were instrumental in keeping me up to date on changes and making me aware of what the systems and new guidance were. In the end they assisted me in contacting my trust to secure a home birth. I ended up going to hospital, Leslie couldn’t come in with me but gave me excellent independent advice and even came to hospital grounds for moral support. My birth was a beautiful transformative water birth that was achieved solely because Leslie assisted me asking the right questions and supported me emotionally throughout. I am so grateful to the Belfast Baby Company for their nurturing care, emotional support, listening ear and up to date independent advice. I’d highly recommend them

The breathing exercises and relaxations I learned during the hypnobirthing course definitely helped during labour. I don’t think my birth would have been so straightforward and positive if I hadn’t come to the classes. And I’m still using the breathing exercises now whenever I feel a bit stressed or anxious!

Leslie had a huge part to play in me having the most magical birthing experience, she was full of knowledge and very much understanding. She also was great at helping me make decisions when it was a struggle during labour.

Emma was an amazing doula, she helped me feel confident and even excited for the birth! During the birth she was so calm and encouraging. I know that having the support of a doula like Emma is a huge part of why my birth was an incredibly positive, empowering experience. I wish every woman could have a doula like Emma!

Emma was with me for my induction in the Royal. I couldn’t have done it without her, encouraging me, helping me understand what was happening, and the massages for contractions!

Discussing our birth preferences with Leslie helped us to decide what kind of birth experience we wanted, and gave us the confidence to discuss our wishes with medical staff.  We believe that her support and faith in us put us in a strong position to have the natural birth that we wanted.  On the day, we were lucky that things worked out as we had hoped, but having her beside us also made us feel better able to tackle the situation, however it unfolded.
